US to Require All Passengers Travelling from China to Provide Negative COVID Test

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that starting January 6, 2023, all air passengers originating from China, Hong Kong or Macau must provide a negative COVID test result to the airline upon departure.
More details can be found on the CDC website. Here are some highlights:
- Applies to all passengers, regardless of nationality and vaccination status
- Applies to passengers 2 years old and above
- Applies to all persons traveling from China via third country transit, and those connecting to a third country by way of the United States
- The COVID test must be taken no more than 2 days before departure
- COVID test must be a PCR test or an antigen self-test administered and monitored by a telehealth service and authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
- Passengers who tested positive more than 10 days before the flight can provide documentation of recovery from COVID in lieu of a negative test result
